Osaka's electric heart
Dotonbori, a bustling street along the canal, gathers the most-photographed signs in Japan — the Glico running man chief among them. Right next door, the Namba/Minami area unfolds its big shopping malls (Namba Parks) and the Shinsaibashi-suji arcade, an essential stop for shopping.
Osaka's pantry
This covered market is famous for its wide range of street food, from takoyaki to yakitori to ultra-fresh fish eaten on the spot. Perfect for a lunch grazed stall by stall.
The quiet interlude
Steps away from the bustle of Dotonbori, this quiet cobbled lane holds a small temple and moss-covered statues, tended daily by passers-by who come to pray. A striking contrast with the surrounding din.

Tsutenkaku
A retro district straight out of the 1920s, crowned by a tower that lords over the city.
Nostalgia and fried kushikatsu
"New world" in Japanese: this district built in the 1920s drew on both European and Asian architectural styles. It's known for its kushikatsu restaurants (breaded, deep-fried skewers), its vintage souvenir shops, and the Tsutenkaku tower (103m) that dominates the skyline with its observation deck.

The castle offers sweeping views over the city and houses a museum tracing its history, all set within a vast park that's lovely for a stroll.

The north of the city: department stores, skyscrapers, and a floating observatory suspended between two towers.

The north of Osaka, around Umeda, concentrates big shopping complexes like Hankyu Umeda and the famous Grand Front Osaka. At the top, the Umeda Sky Building and its floating observatory offer a stunning view over the skyscrapers, the surrounding mountains and Osaka Bay — by day or night, and especially at sunset.
Super Nintendo World · Wizarding World
Set aside a full day: the most popular theme park in western Japan is worth surrendering a day of an already-packed Osaka itinerary.
The must-do theme park
You enter through a genuine Warp Pipe to explore the Mushroom Kingdom at full scale: Super Nintendo World brings together Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge and Yoshi's Adventure in a setting as colourful as it is faithful to the games. The park is also home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and a Minions-themed zone — enough to keep young and old busy all day.
