Corfu, between turquoise beaches and hilltop villages
Our guide to Corfu: Cap Drastis and the northern cliffs, Paleokastritsa, the UNESCO old town and the Achilleion Palace, Myrtiotissa and Agios Gordios beaches, and a boat trip to Paxos and the Blue Caves: hours, prices and the best addresses.
Corfu reveals itself by car, from cove to hilltop village.
The greenest of the Ionian islands combines white cliffs, turquoise coves reachable only by boat, Venetian villages, and a UNESCO-listed old town. You explore it by zone, from the wild north to the calm south, not forgetting a boat trip to the neighboring islands of Paxos and Antipaxos.
01
The North — wild cliffs and coves
Cap Drastis · Paleokastritsa · Kassiopi
The north of the island holds Corfu's most spectacular landscapes: white cliffs, hidden coves, and villages clinging to the hillsides.

The most photographed sunset
Cap Drastis & Sidari
Cap Drastis, reachable only by boat, offers spectacular white cliffs and one of the island's finest sunsets. Right next door, Sidari and its famous Canal d'Amour (a cove carved into the rock) draw visitors for swimming and the local legend.

Corfu's postcard view
Paleokastritsa & its viewpoints
Paleokastritsa and its Agia Triada chapel form one of the island's most iconic sites, overlooked by Paleokastritsa Monastery. For the most spectacular view, head to the Angelo Kastro viewpoint or the village of Lakones, perched above the bay. A little further on, the Liapades viewpoint completes the picture.

Secret coves and authentic villages
The wild beaches of the northwest
Between Paralia Arillas, Agios Stefanos, and the Porto Timoni / Afionas village duo (a double cove reachable on foot, with views of two seas), the northwest is full of less crowded spots. For the more adventurous: Kastelli beach, reachable only by boat, Dolphin beach, the small cove of Limni beach (a 15-minute walk), or Agios Spiridon, Klimatia, Rovinia, and Paradise beach (Chomi beach), known for its crystal-clear waters.

Lively villages and unspoiled coves
Kassiopi & the northeast coast
Kassiopi, a charming harbor village, makes a good base for reaching Paralia Pipitos and Paralia Mpataria. Further south, Ipsos is the liveliest town on the east coast, while Akoli beach is earned after a 25-minute walk from Avlaki beach. Also don't miss Logas sunset beach / 7th Heaven for evening drinks, and the Grotta Beach Bar, tucked into a natural cave.

Old Town & Kanoni — Venetian heritage
Citadelle · Palais d'Achilleion

UNESCO World Heritage
The old town & the new citadel
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Corfu's old town blends Venetian, French, and British influences in a maze of cobbled lanes. The new citadel (Neo Frourio), overlooking the harbor, offers one of the finest panoramas over the town and the Ionian Sea.

An empress's residence
The Achilleion Palace
Built in the late 19th century for Empress Sissi of Austria, this neoclassical palace dedicated to the Greek hero Achilles overlooks the bay from the heights of Gastouri. Italian-style gardens, ancient statues, and sea views make it an essential stop.

The Middle — iconic beaches of the west coast
Myrtiotissa · Agios Gordios · Glyfada
The west coast, in the middle of the island, holds some of Corfu's most celebrated beaches, between green cliffs and golden sand.

The wildest beach
Myrtiotissa beach & Agios Gordios
Long nicknamed one of Europe's most beautiful beaches, Myrtiotissa remains tucked between two green cliffs, reachable via a steep path. Nearby, Agios Gordios, overlooked by the Ortholithi rock, offers a livelier atmosphere with its beach bars.

Hiking and lazing on the beach
Gyali beach & Glyfada beach
Gyali beach is earned after a hike down from the surrounding heights, while Glyfada beach, one of the island's widest, wins people over with its golden sand and shallow water that's ideal for families.
Corfu isn't just its beaches: it extends out to sea, toward Paxos and its turquoise waters.

Paxos, Antipaxos & the Blue Caves
